School Service Leader – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

Catholic Education Tasmania is a community of thirty-eight schools and colleges serving over 17,000 students, their families and over 2,400 employees across Tasmania.
Reporting to the Principal Lead: South you will be responsible for providing specialist on-going instructional support and advice within schools and small regional clusters of schools.

As School Services Leader – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, you will:

  • Support schools in implementing pedagogical models of support and tiered interventions to address the learning needs of students in line with the Insight into Learning approach to teaching and learning.
  • Provide in-school support to develop consistent learning and assessment practices that use knowledge of student data to inform teaching and learning.
  • Tailor professional learning to assist teachers to improve curriculum, pedagogy and assessment
  • Foster connections between schools for collaborative conversations, including engaging with Principals, leadership teams and teachers
  • Willingness to travel and work closely with school leaders and teachers on curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.

Some of the skills and experiences we are looking for are:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of specialisation.
  • Ability to work in a focused and collaborative manner in a school environment to support the improvement of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
  • Ability to work in a changeable environment, meeting the evolving needs of the students, staff, system and schools.
  • Competence facilitating adult learning and professional development, demonstrating high level Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Deep commitment to Implementing evidence-based practice, including High Impact Teaching Practice, Cognitive Load Theory, Knowledge-Rich Curriculum Theory, the Science of Learning and Science of Reading.
  • Sound knowledge of legislature in area of specialisation.
  • Current driver’s licence.

Required

  • Education degree with teaching experience
  • Accreditation C: To teach RE in a Catholic school or willingness to obtain
  • Registered to teach in Tasmanian Schools or able to gain registration
  • Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP)

Desirable

  • Graduate study in area of specialisation or equivalent
