The College invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the ongoing, term-time only position of Resource Centre Library Assistant to support the operation of the College's Resource Centre/Library.

Resource Centre Library Assistant

 Full Time – Ongoing, Term Time Only

About the Role

The Resource Centre/Library Assistant supports the Resource Centre/Library Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Rice Resource Centre (Library) encompassing the physical library space, print collection, online resources and student supervision to support learning and teaching at MacKillop Catholic College.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, skilled individual who enjoys a varied workload and thrives in a supportive, community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports and assists in the provision of a welcoming, efficient, safe and comfortable learning environment.
  • Maintains the physical presentation of the library and its various collections including the repair and/or replacement systems for equipment.
  • Assists in the routine ordering and maintenance of equipment and materials.
  • Assists students with researching and referencing learning related materials, and the sourcing of recreational reading texts.
  • Supports the promotion of physical and online resources to the MacKillop Catholic College community including the creation of library displays.
  • Assists staff in the use of the physical and online resources of the Rice Resource Centre/Library.
  • Performs supervision duties to ensure the maintenance of a study and learning environment appropriate for all students.

About You

You are a reliable and self-motivated professional with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You demonstrate integrity, initiative, and a strong commitment to maintaining a welcoming and encouraging school Library environment. You also bring excellent communication skills and a willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the school.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Library and Information Technology (or equivalent) or be willing to attain these or similar qualifications.

Essential Requirements:

  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
  • Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check (NPCHC).

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in library operations, management systems and circulation desk to deliver excellence in customer service.
  • Current first aid qualification.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
