This role combines WHS expertise with a genuine understanding of education and child‑centred environments. You will work closely with schools to support safe, compliant and welcoming learning settings, providing practical, context‑specific advice that recognises the realities of school and early learning operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide expert WHS and child safety advice tailored to school and early learning environments, supporting legislative and organisational compliance.
Deliver predominantly onsite, structured support across Southern Region schools, contributing to CET’s system‑wide safety and compliance framework.
Partner with Principals, school leaders and staff to strengthen safety culture, hazard management, emergency preparedness, contractor oversight and child safety practices.
Develop and deliver WHS training, guidance, communications and learning resources that are practical, accessible and relevant to education settings.
Support incident and hazard management processes, including reporting, investigation, risk assessment and closure, with a strong focus on learning and prevention.
Monitor and support compliance through inspections, audits and reviews, driving continuous improvement in collaboration with schools and CET colleagues.
About You
You are a WHS professional who understands that schools and early learning environments are unique, dynamic and people‑centred. You balance strong technical knowledge with empathy, adaptability and a collaborative approach.
You are committed to the Catholic mission and values, and to safeguarding children and young people.
You understand how WHS operates in environments where children, families, educators and support staff interact daily.
You are practical, approachable and confident working directly with school and/or early learning communities.
You bring sound judgement, professional integrity and the ability to work independently with broad direction.
You are motivated by continuous improvement and supporting positive, proactive safety cultures in education settings.
You Will Bring
Demonstrated experience in WHS compliance, risk management and safety systems, ideally within schools, early learning, childcare or similarly regulated child‑focused environments.
Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and child safety and safeguarding obligations.
Experience supporting, advising or training staff in education or community‑based environments.
The ability to translate WHS requirements into practical, workable solutions for schools and early learning settings.
Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with confidence engaging diverse stakeholders.
An understanding of the operational realities of schools and/or early learning services, including change, competing priorities and varying levels of WHS maturity.
A current Tasmanian driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the region.
Qualifications
Required
Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS, or demonstrated practical WHS experience, particularly within school, early learning or childcare environments.
Accreditation A to work in Catholic Education, or willingness to obtain.
Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
Satisfactory National Police Check.

Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline.
Experience working in schools, early learning or childcare environments.
Current First Aid qualification.
Experience in WHS training delivery, auditing, contractor management and WHS management systems.
Confidence analysing data and using safety, reporting and learning systems.
Why Join Us?
You will join a values‑driven organisation committed to:
Creating safe, compliant and supportive learning environments for every student.
A Catholic mission grounded in dignity, care and service.
Genuine collaboration with schools, families and communities.
Continuous improvement and professional growth.
