Star of the Sea Catholic College has been serving the families of George Town and its surrounding communities for 69 years. We provide education to students from Kinder through to Year 10.
Star of the Sea prides itself on providing quality education in a safe and supportive environment. With small class sizes guaranteeing individual attention, the College has a strong history of giving students the skills they need to move onto Year 11 and 12 or work successfully. About the Role
The Utility Officer plays a vital role in ensuring our school grounds, buildings, and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained. This position requires a hands‑on, proactive individual who can coordinate maintenance tasks and respond effectively to daily operational needs.
The successful applicant will support the Catholic Identity and Evangelising Mission of the school and work collaboratively with staff, contractors, volunteers, and the broader school community.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating daily building and grounds maintenance, including cleaning tasks, rubbish removal, and minor repairs.
- Overseeing turf care, playground upkeep, and replenishment of soft fall.
- Planning and undertaking specialised maintenance tasks and small building projects.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and chemical storage in line with safety standards.
- Setting up furniture and equipment for school events and sporting activities.
- Managing daily security routines, including unlocking/locking buildings.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
- Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check.
- Current Tasmanian driver’s licence.
