Larmenier Catholic School is a warm and vibrant regional school located in St Leonards, providing co-educational primary school from Kindergarten to Grade 6. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Officer to join our team and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well‑functioning school environment that supports high‑quality learning for all students.
About the Role
The Utility Officer plays a vital role in ensuring our school grounds, buildings, and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained. This position requires a hands‑on, proactive individual with trade-level skills who can coordinate maintenance tasks, supervise others, and respond effectively to daily operational needs.
The successful applicant will support the Catholic Identity and Evangelising Mission of the school and work collaboratively with staff, contractors, volunteers, and the broader school community.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating daily building and grounds maintenance, including cleaning tasks, rubbish removal, and minor repairs.
- Overseeing turf care, playground upkeep, and replenishment of soft fall.
- Planning and undertaking specialised maintenance tasks and small building projects.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and chemical storage in line with safety standards.
- Setting up furniture and equipment for school events and sporting activities.
- Managing daily security routines, including unlocking/locking buildings.
Required Skills, Experience and Attributes
We are looking for someone who can:

- Apply initiative and problem‑solve constructively.
- Coordinate and supervise others confidently.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Demonstrate flexibility, dependability, and sound judgement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
- Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check.
- Current Tasmanian driver’s licence.
- Trade Certificate or Certificate III (or relevant experience).

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
