Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) is seeking a highly skilled Finance Business Partner – Operations to support the financial stewardship, sustainability and success of our schools across Tasmania.

As a key member of the Finance team, you will provide expert financial support, analysis and guidance to Principals, Business Managers and school leaders. Your work will help ensure sound financial management, effective governance, regulatory compliance and informed decision-making across our system.

Beyond the numbers, you will contribute to a purpose-driven organisation committed to supporting learning and educational excellence for students throughout Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist financial advice and support for school budgeting, forecasting and planning.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying risks, trends and opportunities.
  • Support accurate and compliant financial operations, reporting and reconciliations.
  • Promote consistent application of CET financial policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
  • Assist schools in the effective use of financial systems and reporting tools, including TechnologyOne.
  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting cycles for schools and the Tasmanian Catholic Education Office (TCEO).
  • Coordinate and support audit, acquittal and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to financial dashboards, performance reporting and decision-support tools.
  • Collaborate with finance leaders on sustainability reviews, funding analysis and improvement initiatives.
  • Support system-wide finance reform, transformation and continuous improvement activities.

What You Will Bring

  • Significant experience in financial management, planning, reporting and business partnering.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and practically.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working within complex or multi-site organisations.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to supporting change and continuous improvement.
  • High-level proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Significant practical experience (10+ years) in financial management.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
  • Current Tasmanian Driver’s Licence.
  • Accreditation A: Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable

  • Experience in education, not-for-profit or public sector environments.
  • Knowledge of AASB, ACNC and education funding compliance requirements.
  • Experience using TechnologyOne or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience in financial forecasting and modelling.
