St Finn Barr’s School is a Catholic co-educational school offering a Catholic Education to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We have provided a quality, child-centred education for students in the Launceston area for 125 years.

St Finn Barr’s invites applications for two committed and compassionate Teacher Assistants to join our vibrant learning community.

About the Role

As a Teacher Assistant, you will work under the guidance of teachers and school leaders to provide high‑quality educational support. You will assist with learning programs, student engagement, classroom routines, and individualised support across a diverse range of student needs.

You will collaborate closely with teachers, students, families and volunteers, contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment grounded in Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Student learning support through individual and small‑group assistance
  • Contribute to the delivery of structured learning programs
  • Assist with learning materials, preparation and organisation
  • Support students with routines, behaviour expectations and ICT use
  • Provide basic physical, social and emotional care
  • Assist with excursions, special events and yard duty
  • Communicate student progress, concerns and successes to teachers
  • Support students with diverse learning, cultural and personal needs

Required Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Commitment to supporting student growth and wellbeing
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and reasoning skills
  • Sound judgement, discretion and initiative
  • Flexibility, dependability and professional integrity.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Working with Vulnerable People Registration
  • National Police Criminal History Check
  • Accreditation A (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable:

  • Cert III Education Support or Early Childhood Education
  • Experience in specialised support areas (EAL, ATSI, MDT, food tech etc.)
  • First Aid, Protective Handling or Manual Handling training
  • Prior experience in the education sector
