Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) supports 39 schools and colleges, more than 17,000 students and 4,000 staff across Tasmania. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Employee Relations Advisor to join our People Services team. This role supports CET's mission of delivering high-quality Catholic education by helping leaders create positive, safe and effective workplace environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside Principals, educational leaders and colleagues across the state, providing expert employee relations advice that strengthens workplace culture, builds leadership capability and contributes to positive outcomes for staff and students.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Employee Relations Advisor, you will provide specialist advice and strategic support to schools and corporate services across a broad range of employee and industrial relations matters, including:

  • Providing high-level employee relations and human resources advice to Principals, leaders and managers across CET.
  • Partnering with Principals and senior leaders on complex employee relations matters and organisational initiatives.
  • Interpreting and applying the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement, employment legislation and workplace policies.
  • Managing and supporting complex employee relations, industrial relations and workers' compensation matters.
  • Assisting with the preparation of matters before the Fair Work Commission and other employment tribunals.
  • Coaching and developing leaders to build capability in people management, workplace relations and employment practices.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of People Services policies, processes and strategic initiatives.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver consistent and effective people outcomes.
  • Supporting continuous improvement through analysis, reporting, project work and organisational initiatives.

About You

As the Employee Relations Advisor, you will bring:

  • Experience in employee relations, industrial relations or human resources advisory roles.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary employee relations practices and employment legislation.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgement and provide practical solutions in complex and sensitive workplace situations.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience coaching and supporting leaders to develop capability and confidence.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment
  • A collaborative, resilient and solutions-focused approach.
  • A commitment to the mission, values and strategic direction of Catholic Education Tasmania.
  • A willingness to travel occasionally to schools and communities across Tasmania to build strong partnerships and provide support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employment Law or a related discipline.
  • Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
  • Current Tasmanian Driver's Licence.
  • Accreditation A: Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School, or willingness to work towards obtaining accreditation.
