Financial Controller: School Operations 1.0 FTE Ongoing
Catholic Education Tasmania is seeking a Financial Controller – Schools Operations to support the Head of Finance: Schools Operations in delivering strong financial stewardship, governance, and operational finance leadership across all CET schools.
This is a senior opportunity to contribute directly to the financial sustainability and strategic direction of schools, while leading consistent, best‑practice financial management and supporting system‑wide reform and transformation initiatives.
As a key member of the Schools Operations Finance team, you will:
Lead consistent, accurate, and compliant financial operations across CET schools.
Support school budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.
Ensure strong governance through effective financial controls, delegations, and risk management.
Oversee school financial reporting cycles and contribute to system‑level dashboards and reporting.
Coordinate audit processes and ensure compliance with AASB, ACNC, and CET requirements.
Provide leadership to school-facing finance teams and support Business Managers.
Build a high‑performance culture focused on capability development and continuous improvement.
Support system‑wide financial reform, sustainability initiatives, and strategic planning.
Champion alignment, simplification, and best‑practice financial management across schools.

You Will Bring
Demonstrated expertise in school or multi‑site financial operations and reporting.
Proven experience leading finance teams and supporting diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and financial reporting capability.
High‑level communication and relationship‑building skills.
The ability to lead change and support system transformation through practical, solutions‑focused leadership.
Qualifications
Required
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
CA or CPA membership (or working towards).
Accreditation A to work in Catholic Education.
Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
Satisfactory National Police Check.
Desirable
Experience in school finance, not‑for‑profit, or public sector environments.
Strong understanding of AASB and ACNC standards and funding compliance.
Experience using TechnologyOne or similar ERP systems.
